Southeast Sulawesi Economy Quarter I-2017 Grows 8.39 Percent (YEAR ON YEAR)

Abstract

Southeast Sulawesi's economy in Q1 / 2017 measured by Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices reached Rp 24,709.32 billion and at constant 2010 prices reached Rp 19,421.36 billion.

Southeast Sulawesi's economy grew 8.39 percent (y-on-y) in Q1 / 2017 from Q1 / 2016 at 5.50 percent. In terms of production, the highest growth was achieved by the Mining and Quarrying Business Field of 17.31 percent. In terms of expenditure, the highest growth was achieved by the Goods and Services Import Component by 54.16 percent.
The economy of Southeast Sulawesi in the first quarter of 2017 grew by minus 5.63 percent from 3.30 percent (q-to-q) in the previous quarter. In terms of production, this is due to seasonal factors in Construction business which in the previous quarter grew quite high, in the first quarter grew by minus 19.82 percent. On the expenditure side, this was mainly due to the declining component of Government Consumption Expenditure, which grew by minus 16.28 percent.
In terms of production, agriculture, forestry, and fishery business fields make the most dominant contribution to Southeast Sulawesi GRDP by 25.44 percent. In terms of expenditure, the structure of GRDP is dominated by Household Consumption Components, amounting to 51.24 percent.
